Esta investigaci\u00f3n fue publicada el pasado 10 de septiembre en la revista cient\u00edfica <em>Nature, <\/em>mientras la noticia fue dada a conocer unos d\u00edas atr\u00e1s mediante una conferencia de prensa, que ha generado expectativa en la comunidad cient\u00edfica mundial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rover-perseverance_NATGEO-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rover-perseverance_NATGEO-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rover-perseverance_NATGEO-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rover-perseverance_NATGEO-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rover-perseverance_NATGEO.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>En concreto, el material geol\u00f3gico se extrajo el a\u00f1o pasado de una roca conocida como Cheyava Falls, y tiene la particularidad de albergar posibles firmas biol\u00f3gicas que, seg\u00fan explicaron los especialistas, son sustancias o estructuras que podr\u00edan tener un origen biol\u00f3gico, pero que, sin embargo, requieren de m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n y estudios adicionales antes de llegar a una conclusi\u00f3n sobre la ausencia o presencia de&nbsp;vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perseverance encontr\u00f3 a Cheyava Falls en julio de 2024, mientras exploraba la formaci\u00f3n Bright Angel, un conjunto de afloramientos de rocas en los bordes norte y sur de un antiguo valle fluvial de 400&nbsp;metros de ancho, tallado por el agua que se precipitaba dentro del cr\u00e1ter Jezero, mucho tiempo atr\u00e1s. El conjunto de instrumentos cient\u00edficos del <em>rover<\/em> descubri\u00f3 que las rocas sedimentarias de esta formaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n compuestas de arcilla y limo que, en la Tierra, son excelentes conservantes de la vida microbiana pasada, adem\u00e1s de ser ricas en carbono org\u00e1nico, azufre, hierro oxidado (\u00f3xido) y f\u00f3sforo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En im\u00e1genes de mayor resoluci\u00f3n, los instrumentos encontraron un patr\u00f3n distintivo de minerales, similares a las manchas de leopardo, que llevaban la firma de dos minerales ricos en hierro: vivianita (fosfato de hierro hidratado) y greigita (sulfuro de hierro). El primero se encuentra frecuentemente en la Tierra, en los sedimentos y alrededor de la materia org\u00e1nica en descomposici\u00f3n. Del mismo modo, algunos microbios terrestres pueden producir greigita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Perseverance-en-Marte-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Perseverance-en-Marte-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Perseverance-en-Marte-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Perseverance-en-Marte-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Perseverance-en-Marte-1.jpg 1472w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLa combinaci\u00f3n de compuestos qu\u00edmicos que encontramos podr\u00eda haber sido una abundante fuente de energ\u00eda para los metabolismos microbianos. Sin embargo, el hecho de que vi\u00e9ramos estas firmas qu\u00edmicas tan convincentes no significaba que dispusi\u00e9ramos de una biofirma potencial. Necesit\u00e1bamos analizar lo que podr\u00edan significar esos datos\u201d, describi\u00f3 el cient\u00edfico de Perseverance Joel Hurowitz, de la Universidad de Stony Brook y autor principal del art\u00edculo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sean Duffy, administrador interino de la NASA, expres\u00f3: \u201cEste hallazgo es lo m\u00e1s cerca que hemos estado de descubrir vida en Marte. La identificaci\u00f3n de una posible biofirma en el planeta rojo es un descubrimiento revolucionario, que mejorar\u00e1 nuestra comprensi\u00f3n del planeta\u201d. Por su parte, Nicky Fox, administradora asociada en la direcci\u00f3n de Misiones Cient\u00edficas, con sede en Washington, anunci\u00f3 que \u201ccon la publicaci\u00f3n de este resultado evaluado por pares, la NASA pone estos datos a disposici\u00f3n de la comunidad cient\u00edfica para su posterior estudio, a fin de confirmar o refutar su potencial biol\u00f3gico\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fuente:
