Esta larga oscuridad dificulta el uso de paneles solares como fuente de energ\u00eda primaria, lo que vuelve fundamental la implementaci\u00f3n de tecnolog\u00edas alternativas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En este contexto, un reactor nuclear se presenta como la soluci\u00f3n clave para mantener h\u00e1bitats presurizados, operar excavadoras rob\u00f3ticas, alimentar impresoras 3D y sostener sistemas de soporte vital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasta ahora, se tratar\u00e1 de un dise\u00f1o compacto, del tipo SMR (Small Modular Reactor), espec\u00edficamente dise\u00f1ado para funcionar en condiciones extremas. Adem\u00e1s, tendr\u00eda una asignaci\u00f3n de masa de menos de 15 toneladas m\u00e9tricas y utilizar\u00eda un sistema de conversi\u00f3n de energ\u00eda de ciclo cerrado de Brayton, que convierte el calor en electricidad. Como la generaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica ser\u00e1 continua, se contempla la instalaci\u00f3n de bater\u00edas que almacenen el excedente para abastecer picos de demanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1023\" height=\"587\" src=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/nasa-reactor-nuclear-3.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/nasa-reactor-nuclear-3.webp 1023w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/nasa-reactor-nuclear-3-300x172.webp 300w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/nasa-reactor-nuclear-3-768x441.webp 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>El sistema&nbsp;deber\u00e1 poder apagarse autom\u00e1ticamente&nbsp;frente a cualquier anomal\u00eda, incluyendo los sismos lunares. Si bien hay muchas certezas, la gesti\u00f3n de residuos radiactivos&nbsp;sigue sin una soluci\u00f3n definitiva por parte de los investigadores. Adem\u00e1s, deber\u00e1 pesar menos de 6 toneladas m\u00e9tricas, una limitaci\u00f3n estricta si se considera que tambi\u00e9n debe ser capaz de generar hasta 100 kilovatios de potencia, suficiente para abastecer unas 80 viviendas promedio. Esta combinaci\u00f3n de alta capacidad energ\u00e9tica y bajo peso representa un desaf\u00edo significativo en t\u00e9rminos de ingenier\u00eda. Por eso, ser\u00e1 crucial un dise\u00f1o optimizado y una integraci\u00f3n eficiente de todos los componentes, no solo para garantizar su funcionamiento en condiciones extremas, sino tambi\u00e9n para mantener los costos dentro de l\u00edmites razonables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este desaf\u00edo se vuelve a\u00fan m\u00e1s relevante si se considera que el regreso del ser humano al sat\u00e9lite est\u00e1 previsto para 2027, en el marco del programa Artemisa. Algunos expertos advierten que es poco probable que esta tecnolog\u00eda est\u00e9 completamente desarrollada y validada a tiempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n existen importantes desaf\u00edos econ\u00f3micos y regulatorios: la explotaci\u00f3n de recursos locales, como el hielo de agua o el helio-3, podr\u00eda implicar costos significativos y demandar el desarrollo de nuevas infraestructuras especializadas. A esto, se suman las incertidumbres en torno al marco legal internacional, especialmente en lo que respecta a la posibilidad de que un pa\u00eds establezca zonas de exclusi\u00f3n alrededor de sus instalaciones, lo que limitar\u00eda el acceso de otras naciones y generar\u00eda tensiones geopol\u00edticas en el espacio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images
