Frente a ese escenario, Airbus y la empresa SandboxAQ \u2014una\u00a0<em>startup<\/em>\u00a0nacida del ecosistema de Alphabet\u2014 desarrollaron\u00a0MagNav, un sistema basado en navegaci\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica cu\u00e1ntica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La propuesta, impulsada desde el centro de innovaci\u00f3n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Acubed\u00a0que Airbus tiene en Silicon Valley, California, busca utilizar el\u00a0campo magn\u00e9tico terrestre como referencia natural\u00a0para determinar la ubicaci\u00f3n de una aeronave. El sistema, conocido tambi\u00e9n como\u00a0AQNav, combina sensores cu\u00e1nticos con inteligencia artificial para comparar las mediciones magn\u00e9ticas reales con mapas digitales detallados del subsuelo. De ese modo, es capaz de calcular una posici\u00f3n sin necesidad de recibir se\u00f1ales externas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante los ensayos, realizados en vuelos sobre distintas regiones de Estados Unidos, se utiliz\u00f3 una aeronave Beechcraft Baron especialmente modificada para integrar el sistema MagNav. En m\u00e1s de 150 horas de prueba, el sistema mantuvo una precisi\u00f3n constante dentro del l\u00edmite establecido por la Administraci\u00f3n Federal de Aviaci\u00f3n (FAA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) \u2013hasta 3,7 km de margen\u2013. Adem\u00e1s, en el 64\u202f% de los casos, la ubicaci\u00f3n fue determinada con un margen de error inferior a 550 metros, para alcanzar los niveles de exigencia equivalentes al est\u00e1ndar de navegaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El equipo t\u00e9cnico destac\u00f3 que los resultados fueron a\u00fan m\u00e1s precisos al sobrevolar zonas monta\u00f1osas y de fuerte variabilidad geol\u00f3gica, donde la huella magn\u00e9tica del terreno ofrece m\u00e1s contraste. En algunos tramos, la precisi\u00f3n lleg\u00f3 a menos de&nbsp;<strong>75 metros<\/strong>&nbsp;sin necesidad de ajustes electromagn\u00e9ticos ni protecci\u00f3n especial contra interferencias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una de las principales ventajas de MagNav es que no depende de se\u00f1ales externas, lo que lo hace inmune a las amenazas comunes que afectan al GPS. Al operar de forma pasiva, es decir, sin emitir ni recibir se\u00f1ales, el sistema no puede ser interferido ni suplantado por t\u00e9cnicas como el&nbsp;<em>jamming<\/em>&nbsp;(bloqueo de se\u00f1al) o el&nbsp;<em>spoofing<\/em>&nbsp;(enga\u00f1o por se\u00f1al falsa). Por eso, se lo considera una alternativa segura tanto como respaldo como para uso principal en operaciones cr\u00edticas, ya sea en aviaci\u00f3n comercial, misiones militares o aplicaciones cient\u00edficas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de su uso en aviaci\u00f3n, los desarrolladores apuntan a aplicaciones en\u00a0navegaci\u00f3n submarina, localizaci\u00f3n en entornos donde el GPS no es viable (como t\u00faneles o cavernas), y hasta posibles usos m\u00e9dicos en el largo plazo, como diagn\u00f3stico por detecci\u00f3n de campos magn\u00e9ticos biol\u00f3gicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por ahora, el desaf\u00edo radica en la\u00a0escalabilidad y certificaci\u00f3n del sistema\u00a0para usos comerciales. Aunque el\u00a0<em>hardware<\/em>\u00a0es compacto \u2014similar en tama\u00f1o a una peque\u00f1a valija\u2014, a\u00fan debe atravesar procesos regulatorios, validaci\u00f3n operativa en distintos entornos y ajustes de integraci\u00f3n en cabinas modernas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La tecnolog\u00eda fue reconocida, en 2024, como una de las &#8220;iniciativas emergentes m\u00e1s prometedoras&#8221; por la revista&nbsp;<em>TIME<\/em>, y ya se proyecta como una posible herramienta complementaria para sistemas aut\u00f3nomos, aviones militares y aeronaves no tripuladas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fuentes y
