Bajo el liderazgo del Reino Unido y con el respaldo de la Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), se&nbsp;prepara&nbsp;un ambicioso proyecto que promete llevar pasajeros de Londres a Nueva York en apenas 60 minutos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"letter-spacing:-0.3px\">En el marco&nbsp;del Proyecto Invictus, que busca construir y volar un avi\u00f3n hipers\u00f3nico experimental antes de&nbsp;2031, la&nbsp;firma brit\u00e1nica Reaction Engines,&nbsp;en colaboraci\u00f3n con la UK Space Agency y la ESA,&nbsp;desarrollan&nbsp;un motor h\u00edbrido&nbsp;llamado&nbsp;SABRE&nbsp;(<em>Synergetic Air Breathing Rocket&nbsp;<\/em><em>Engin<\/em><em>e<\/em><em>)<\/em>capaz&nbsp;de operar como un&nbsp;<em>jet<\/em>&nbsp;tradicional&nbsp;y&nbsp;como un cohete espacial.&nbsp;El programa cuenta con financiaci\u00f3n del gobierno brit\u00e1nico y del sector privado,&nbsp;y&nbsp;es&nbsp;impulsado&nbsp;por la consultora Frazer-Nash junto a Reaction Engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"letter-spacing:-0.3px\">El&nbsp;SABRE&nbsp;es&nbsp;un propulsor revolucionario que combina la capacidad de absorber ox\u00edgeno del aire como los motores a reacci\u00f3n, con la posibilidad de funcionar en el vac\u00edo del espacio como un cohete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"letter-spacing:-0.3px\">Este dise\u00f1o dual le permite a la aeronave despegar desde una pista convencional, volar en la atm\u00f3sfera terrestre a velocidades superiores a Mach 5 (m\u00e1s de 6000 km\/h) y, luego,&nbsp;continuar su trayectoria fuera de la atm\u00f3sfera, si es necesario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"letter-spacing:-0.3px\">Uno de los grandes desaf\u00edos al alcanzar velocidades hipers\u00f3nicas es el calentamiento extremo del aire al ingresar al motor. A velocidades cercanas a Mach 5, el aire puede superar&nbsp;los 1000\u202f\u00b0C.&nbsp;Para solucionar esto, SABRE incorpora un sistema de&nbsp;<em>precooler<\/em>&nbsp;criog\u00e9nico capaz de enfriar ese aire a temperatura ambiente en menos de 0,05 segundos, antes de que entre en la c\u00e1mara de combusti\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"letter-spacing:-0.3px\">Este componente, probado exitosamente en 2019, es considerado el gran desarrollo&nbsp;del proyecto. El sistema utiliza helio y la temperatura ultrabaja del hidr\u00f3geno l\u00edquido para enfriar el flujo de aire sin perder potencia, lo que permite al motor operar de manera eficiente y segura a alt\u00edsimas velocidades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"letter-spacing:-0.3px\">Seg\u00fan se inform\u00f3, el calendario prev\u00e9:&nbsp;finalizaci\u00f3n del dise\u00f1o integrado para 2026, pruebas de motor y subsistemas entre 2027 y 2030, y su primer vuelo hacia 2031.&nbsp;De tener \u00e9xito, Invictus abrir\u00eda las puertas a una nueva generaci\u00f3n de aeronaves capaces de realizar vuelos intercontinentales en una fracci\u00f3n del tiempo actual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"letter-spacing:-0.3px\">Si&nbsp;bien por&nbsp;ahora&nbsp;se trata de un prototipo experimental, el impacto a futuro es gigantesco.
