{"id":16589,"date":"2025-05-27T13:25:57","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T13:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.0.98\/?p=16589"},"modified":"2025-05-27T13:25:58","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T13:25:58","slug":"biomass-la-nueva-mision-de-la-esa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/?p=16589","title":{"rendered":"BIOMASS, la nueva misi\u00f3n de la ESA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Luego del reciente y exitoso lanzamiento del sat\u00e9lite y su instrumento principal desde el Puerto Espacial Europeo de Kourou, en la Guayana Francesa, la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/\">Agencia Espacial Europea<\/a> (ESA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) se encuentra en pleno seguimiento de esta misi\u00f3n, que se ha unido oficialmente a los Earth Explorers de la misma instituci\u00f3n, con el objetivo de brindar informaci\u00f3n sobre el estado global de los bosques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_lanzamiento-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_lanzamiento-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_lanzamiento-1-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_lanzamiento-1-768x540.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Los \u201cpulmones verdes del planeta&#8221; cubren casi un tercio de la superficie terrestre y juegan un papel vital al absorber y almacenar gigantescas cantidades de di\u00f3xido de carbono: unos 8000 millones de toneladas al a\u00f1o, que ayudan a regular la temperatura global. La mayor parte del carbono \u2014se estima que un 50% del peso de un \u00e1rbol\u2014 se almacena en la madera: tronco, ramas y tallos. La deforestaci\u00f3n y la degradaci\u00f3n del suelo, especialmente en zonas tropicales, devuelven el carbono almacenado a la atm\u00f3sfera, lo que agrava el calentamiento global.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gran innovaci\u00f3n de BIOMASS es su instrumento principal, construido por <a href=\"http:\/\/airbus.com\">Airbus<\/a>: el primer radar de apertura sint\u00e9tica en banda &#8220;P&#8221; en viajar al espacio. Los radares funcionan enviando microondas y analizando el eco que rebota en la superficie. La clave est\u00e1 en la longitud de onda y, en este caso, son mucho m\u00e1s largas que las usadas por otros sat\u00e9lites. La capacidad \u00fanica del radar en banda \u201cP\u201d le permite medir directamente la cantidad de biomasa le\u00f1osa \u2014la madera bajo el follaje de los bosques, el principal almac\u00e9n de carbono forestal\u2014 a escala global y con una precisi\u00f3n ins\u00f3lita desde el espacio. Los cient\u00edficos podr\u00e1n obtener informaci\u00f3n detallada sobre la estructura del bosque, estimar su altura y calcular la cantidad de materia org\u00e1nica le\u00f1osa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_construccion-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16596\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_construccion-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_construccion-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_construccion-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Biomass_construccion.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>BIOMASS operar\u00e1 en dos fases principales durante sus cinco a\u00f1os y medio de vida \u00fatil: una fase tomogr\u00e1fica, de 18 meses, en la que realizar\u00e1n m\u00faltiples pasadas sobre las mismas zonas, desde \u00e1ngulos ligeramente diferentes, para crear un mapa 3D de la estructura forestal. A continuaci\u00f3n, vendr\u00e1 la fase interferom\u00e9trica, de cuatro a\u00f1os, en la que utilizar\u00e1 la diferencia entre se\u00f1ales para medir cambios en la altura y densidad del bosque. En los pr\u00f3ximos seis meses, el equipo de BIOMASS comenzar\u00e1 a generar los primeros mapas globales de biomasa forestal, con actualizaciones anuales. Estos datos permitir\u00e1n no solo conocer cu\u00e1nto carbono permanece almacenado, sino tambi\u00e9n cu\u00e1nto se pierde a causa de la deforestaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
