Algunas flotan en el cielo, escritas en la luz que emiten los restos de estrellas que ya no existen. Eso fue lo que descubri\u00f3 un grupo de astr\u00f3nomos al estudiar un sistema estelar conocido como GRO J1655-40, a partir de los datos obtenidos por el telescopio de rayos X Chandra, de la NASA. Lo que encontraron no fue solo una imagen del presente de ese sistema, sino una reconstrucci\u00f3n detallada de lo que ocurri\u00f3 all\u00ed hace m\u00e1s de un mill\u00f3n de a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/j1655-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16062\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/j1655-1024x768.webp 1024w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/j1655-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/j1655-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/aeroespacio.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/j1655.webp 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoy, GRO J1655-40 est\u00e1 compuesto por un agujero negro y una estrella compa\u00f1era. Pero en sus inicios, este sistema binario albergaba a dos estrellas masivas. Una de ellas \u2014la m\u00e1s grande\u2014 agot\u00f3 su combustible nuclear, lo que provoc\u00f3 su colapso y posterior explosi\u00f3n como supernova, uno de los fen\u00f3menos m\u00e1s extremos del universo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La explosi\u00f3n fue tan poderosa que expuls\u00f3 las capas externas de la estrella hacia su compa\u00f1era, mientras el n\u00facleo remanente colapsaba y se convert\u00eda en un agujero negro. Con el tiempo, la distancia entre ambos objetos se fue reduciendo, principalmente por la p\u00e9rdida de energ\u00eda del sistema a trav\u00e9s de ondas gravitacionales. Eventualmente, el agujero negro comenz\u00f3 a extraer materia de la estrella que segu\u00eda activa. Parte de ese material fue absorbido, pero una peque\u00f1a fracci\u00f3n qued\u00f3 girando en un disco que lo rodea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ese disco, lejos de ser un simple residuo, se volvi\u00f3 una fuente clave de informaci\u00f3n. Gracias a la fricci\u00f3n y a los intensos campos magn\u00e9ticos, parte del gas que lo compone se expulsa al espacio en forma de vientos de alta energ\u00eda. Fue precisamente en esos vientos donde los astr\u00f3nomos, con la ayuda de Chandra, detectaron una especie de firma qu\u00edmica que revel\u00f3 pistas valiosas sobre la estrella que ya no est\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2005, cuando el sistema emit\u00eda una gran cantidad de rayos X, Chandra capt\u00f3 un espectro detallado que permiti\u00f3 identificar la presencia de 18 elementos distintos en esos vientos. Comparando los datos con modelos de supernovas, el equipo logr\u00f3 determinar que la estrella original ten\u00eda unas 25 veces la masa del Sol y una abundancia significativamente mayor de elementos m\u00e1s pesados que el helio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este enfoque, conocido como arqueolog\u00eda estelar, permite reconstruir el pasado del universo a trav\u00e9s de la f\u00edsica y la luz. No se trata de excavar, sino de leer el cielo, interpretar los rastros que dejaron los procesos m\u00e1s extremos de la naturaleza y entender c\u00f3mo nacen, viven y mueren las estrellas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el caso de GRO J1655-40, lo que comenz\u00f3 con una explosi\u00f3n termin\u00f3 en una historia que a\u00fan se sigue contando. Gracias a los avances en la observaci\u00f3n astron\u00f3mica, este trabajo no solo aporta informaci\u00f3n clave sobre la formaci\u00f3n de agujeros negros, sino que tambi\u00e9n abre nuevas posibilidades para estudiar otros sistemas binarios y seguir reconstruyendo la memoria c\u00f3smica del universo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fuente y foto: NASA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No todas las historias del pasado est\u00e1n bajo tierra.
