El descubrimiento se realiz\u00f3 utilizando el&nbsp;<em>Very Large Telescope<\/em>&nbsp;(VLT de ESO) del Observatorio Europeo Austral (ESO) en Chile y proporciona informaci\u00f3n \u00fanica sobre los patrones clim\u00e1ticos de un mundo distante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La comunidad astron\u00f3mica viene investigando el clima de WASP-127b, un planeta gaseoso gigante ubicado a m\u00e1s de 500 a\u00f1os luz de la Tierra, que es m\u00e1s grande que J\u00fapiter, pero tiene solo una fracci\u00f3n de su masa, lo que lo convierte en un astro &#8220;hinchado&#8221;. Un equipo internacional de astr\u00f3nomos descubri\u00f3 que los vientos supers\u00f3nicos est\u00e1n causando estragos en su superficie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lisa Nortmann, cient\u00edfica de la Universidad de G\u00f6ttingen (Alemania) y autora principal del estudio dijo: &#8220;Parte de la atm\u00f3sfera de este planeta se mueve hacia nosotros a gran velocidad, mientras que otra parte se aleja a la misma velocidad. Esta se\u00f1al nos muestra que hay una corriente de viento supers\u00f3nico muy r\u00e1pido alrededor del ecuador del astro\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los chorros de vientos o&nbsp;<em>jets<\/em>&nbsp;se mueven a casi seis veces la velocidad a la que gira WASP-127b. &#8220;Esto es algo que no hab\u00edamos visto antes&#8221;, afirma Nortmann. \u201cEs el viento m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido jam\u00e1s medido en el Sistema Solar\u201d, agreg\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los cient\u00edficos, al medir c\u00f3mo viaja la luz de la estrella anfitriona a trav\u00e9s de la atm\u00f3sfera superior del planeta, lograron rastrear su composici\u00f3n. Sus resultados confirman la presencia de mol\u00e9culas de vapor de agua y mon\u00f3xido de carbono en la atm\u00f3sfera de WASP-127b. Al seguir construyendo su mapa meteorol\u00f3gico, el equipo descubri\u00f3 que los polos son m\u00e1s fr\u00edos que el resto del planeta, al igual que una ligera diferencia de temperatura entre los lados matutino y vespertino. &#8220;Esto demuestra que el astro tiene patrones clim\u00e1ticos complejos, al igual que la Tierra&#8221;, a\u00f1ade Fei Yan, coautor del estudio y profesor de la Universidad de Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda de China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El campo de la investigaci\u00f3n de exoplanetas est\u00e1 avanzando r\u00e1pidamente. Hasta hace unos a\u00f1os, la comunidad astron\u00f3mica solo pod\u00eda medir la masa y el radio de los planetas fuera del Sistema Solar. En la actualidad, telescopios como el VLT de ESO ya permiten a la comunidad cient\u00edfica cartografiar el clima en estos mundos distantes y analizar sus atm\u00f3sferas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En la actualidad, estos estudios solo pueden realizarse desde observatorios terrestres, ya que los instrumentos que se encuentran en los telescopios espaciales no tienen la precisi\u00f3n de velocidad necesaria. El&nbsp;<em>Extremely Large Telescope<\/em>&nbsp;de ESO, que se est\u00e1 construyendo cerca del VLT, en Chile, y su instrumento ANDES, permitir\u00e1n a la comunidad investigadora profundizar a\u00fan m\u00e1s en los patrones clim\u00e1ticos de planetas lejanos. &#8220;Esto significa que probablemente podamos resolver detalles a\u00fan m\u00e1s finos de los patrones de viento y ampliar
