Este innovador dron, el primero de su clase en la historia de la aviaci\u00f3n, ha sido dise\u00f1ado espec\u00edficamente para\u00a0aprovechar al m\u00e1ximo la energ\u00eda solar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los Skydwellers est\u00e1n hechos de fibra de carbono, tienen el tama\u00f1o de un 747, pueden transportar hasta 362,874 kg de carga y son capaces de volar a perpetuidad con energ\u00eda solar. Seg\u00fan el fabricante, el avi\u00f3n se desplegar\u00e1 para misiones de larga duraci\u00f3n como detectar contrabandistas de drogas y piratas en el mar, proporcionar cobertura a\u00e9rea continua sobre zonas de guerra, vigilar la actividad naval en aguas disputadas sin arriesgar la vida de la tripulaci\u00f3n de vuelo, y rastrear la migraci\u00f3n de vida silvestre y la caza furtiva en \u00c1frica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con cero emisiones y cero combustible, esta innovadora aeronave fotovoltaica&nbsp;representa un avance en la b\u00fasqueda de un avi\u00f3n funcional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre sus caracter\u00edsticas t\u00e9cnicas m\u00e1s destacadas, el\u00a0Skydwelle tiene\u00a0una envergadura de<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>71,93 m,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>que le permite trasladar su carga<em>\u00a0<\/em>a una altura de aproximadamente 11 000 m<em>.<\/em>\u00a0Su velocidad oscila entre\u00a045 y 90 km\/h, y su autonom\u00eda es\u00a0pr\u00e1cticamente ilimitada,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>siempre que opere en zonas con suficiente radiaci\u00f3n solar, como las regiones ecuatoriales o tropicales.\u00a0Sin embargo, su capacidad de vuelo continuo depende de las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas que\u00a0podr\u00edan disminuir su rendimiento, un aspecto clave que ha generado muchas preguntas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 sucede en los d\u00edas nublados o en regiones con menor exposici\u00f3n solar?\u00a0Por el momento, la soluci\u00f3n que se plantea es centrarse en \u00e1reas geogr\u00e1ficas con latitudes espec\u00edficas, como el Caribe, donde la cantidad de d\u00edas soleados a lo largo del a\u00f1o es significativamente alta. En esas zonas, el Skydweller podr\u00eda operar, de manera ininterrumpida, durante 365 d\u00edas.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El avi\u00f3n ser\u00e1 probado para regiones\u00a0en<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>los 25\u00b0de latitud norte y sur, una franja que cubre aproximadamente 5500 km. Este espacio es suficiente para realizar trayectos amplios como, por ejemplo, desde\u00a0Miami hasta R\u00edo de Janeiro o desde Dub\u00e1i hasta Maputo,\u00a0lo que asegura un entorno adecuado para la operaci\u00f3n constante del dron. As\u00ed, aunque el desaf\u00edo de los d\u00edas nublados persiste, la tecnolog\u00eda fotovoltaica puede ser optimizada en zonas con condiciones favorables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Su antecesor, el proyecto Solar Impulse, dirigido por los pilotos\u00a0Bertrand Piccard y Andr\u00e9 Borschberg,\u00a0demostr\u00f3, en 2016,\u00a0que los vuelos solares eran posibles.\u00a0El avi\u00f3n\u00a0Solar Impulse\u00a0complet\u00f3 una vuelta al mundo,\u00a0vol\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 40 000 km sin utilizar una sola gota de combustible f\u00f3sil, aunque realiz\u00f3 m\u00faltiples paradas para mantenimiento y descanso de la tripulaci\u00f3n.\u00a0A diferencia del\u00a0Skydweller,\u00a0Solar Impulse estaba tripulado\u00a0y su misi\u00f3n era demostrar el potencial de la energ\u00eda solar en la aviaci\u00f3n, con limitaciones en cuanto a duraci\u00f3n de vuelo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El \u00e9xito del\u00a0Solar Impulse\u00a0abri\u00f3 el camino para otras iniciativas, pero tambi\u00e9n dej\u00f3 claro que la tecnolog\u00eda\u00a0enfrentaba desaf\u00edos importantes, como la capacidad limitada para transportar carga y la dependencia de condiciones clim\u00e1ticas ideales.
