Este desarrollo busca reducir la quema de combustible en un 10 % en comparaci\u00f3n con los motores actuales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ubicado dentro de un centro de alta tecnolog\u00eda, el DGEN380 Aeropropulsi\u00f3n Turbofan (DART) es el motor a reacci\u00f3n, a peque\u00f1a escala, que la NASA est\u00e1 desarrollando para la industria aeron\u00e1utica. El Laboratorio de Propulsi\u00f3n Aeroac\u00fastica, situado en el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Glenn de la NASA en Cleveland, Estados Unidos, posee una c\u00e1mara insonorizada que garantiza a los investigadores realizar las potentes pruebas de ruido del motor y mantener en niveles bajos el volumen en el exterior. Adem\u00e1s, los ingenieros pueden probar los componentes del Turbofan de forma menos costosa en comparaci\u00f3n con un equipo de pruebas de motor a reacci\u00f3n, a gran escala. El DGEN380 posee un tama\u00f1o de 1,3 metros de largo, es tan peque\u00f1o que podr\u00eda caber en una mesa de cocina. Su dimensi\u00f3n es de, aproximadamente, la mitad de la longitud de los motores utilizados en los aviones de pasajeros de un solo pasillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El DART fue fabricado por la compa\u00f1\u00eda francesa Price Induction (ahora Akira) y adquirido en 2017 por la NASA, lo que facilita el desarrollo de las investigaciones gracias a su gran accesibilidad. \u201cEl peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o del DART lo hace atractivo&#8221;, dijo Dan Sutliff, quien coordina la investigaci\u00f3n dentro de Glenn. Y agreg\u00f3: \u201cEs una gran manera de explorar una nueva tecnolog\u00eda que a\u00fan no ha alcanzado el nivel de una operaci\u00f3n a gran escala&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre sus caracter\u00edsticas, el DART tiene una alta relaci\u00f3n de derivaci\u00f3n, que es la cantidad de aire que pasa a trav\u00e9s del&nbsp;<em>turboventilan<\/em>&nbsp;y alrededor del n\u00facleo principal del motor en lugar de entrar en \u00e9l.&nbsp;Al disminuir el tama\u00f1o del n\u00facleo aumenta el tama\u00f1o del turboventilador que alimenta, al tiempo que mantiene la misma salida de empuje.&nbsp;Tener una alta relaci\u00f3n de derivaci\u00f3n significa que el DART es m\u00e1s eficiente en aviones comerciales debido a su gran capacidad de economizar el consumo de combustible y reducir&nbsp;las emisiones de carbono&nbsp;en comparaci\u00f3n con los otros motores a reacci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El motor DART a\u00fan puede probar m\u00e1s aspectos del motor a reacci\u00f3n.
